All children should be free to dance, to laugh, to learn and to grow up in a loving environment.
Yet today there are over one billion children suffering from extreme forms of deprivation and millions of children tragically lose their parents through poverty, preventable disease and war. In many developing countries the AIDS epidemic has orphaned children so quickly that family structures can no longer cope.
Children and Families inaugural programme is focused in Malawi, Southern Africa where over one million orphaned and vulnerable children need help.
In concert with government and our local partners, we have supported the first university level course in Social Work in Malawi and currently provide teaching resources and bursaries.
We have established the Nkhata Bay Children’s Centre in the north of the country to provide training and resources to encourage better practice community care of orphans.
In addition, direct support to local community groups and families is facilitated by our local partner, Eye of the Child.
